ABOUT AKOSUA ALI

Akosua Ali is a nationally renowned champion for civil rights, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) specializing in the areas of political action, civic engagement, health advocacy, education, climate, environment, housing and criminal justice.

​

Akosua Ali brings over 18 years of leadership expertise across Non-Profit, State Government, Federal Government and Private sector organizations with a record of delivering mission-driven results in organizational transformation, while increasing operational efficiency.  Akosua Ali is the Founder & CEO of Crimson Solutions LLC, a company dedicated to providing transformative solutions in advancing Racial Justice, Diversity, Equity & Inclusions (JEDI).

Akosua Ali has also served as President of the NAACP Washington, DC Branch for 12 years and has served on the NAACP National Board of Directors, since 2016.  As President of the NAACP, Akosua Ali leads the strategic implementation of diversity, equity, and civil rights advocacy in the areas of health, education, climate, environment, housing, criminal justice, legal redress, gender equity, economic development and women empowerment.   Since 2010, Akosua Ali has led the NAACP in processing over 614 discrimination complaints addressing police misconduct, housing, education, employment, and consumer rights violations.  Akosua Ali leads legislative and public policy advocacy testifying on key legislation, budget and performance oversight addressing housing, education, health, environment, housing, policing, juvenile justice, public safety and economic empowerment.

Professionally, Akosua Ali's work experience encompasses the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Aviation Administration, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Secretary of State.  

 

Akosua Ali is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with her Bachelors and MBA in Global Business and Organizational Leadership.   She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., initiated through the Lambda Iota Chapter in 2003.  Today, Akosua Ali is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Federal City Alumnae Chapter, a chartering member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Blacks In Government (BIG) Chapter and serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations, including the DC Open Government Coalition, Kofi Tyus Art Institute and Next Generational Leadership Training Institute.  

 

Akosua Ali is a native of Washington, DC and is married to internationally, renowned environmental justice activist, Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali.
